Local Pakistani Travel Bloggers That Are Worth Your Time

An American travel blogger, Alex Reynolds, was invited among other foreign bloggers to Pakistan Tourism Summit to highlight the burgeoning travel industry of Pakistan.

She, however, was allegedly not allowed to speak at the Summit due to the critical nature of her presentation. Among several key issues that she pointed out, one basic issue was the lack of representation of Pakistani bloggers at the Summit. The reason why their presence was necessary was that it is our local travel bloggers that have been traveling for years within the country and highlighting its scenic beauty. Without their efforts, it would have been difficult for foreign bloggers to explore Pakistan because as Alex pointed out, it is the local bloggers that help foreigners identify places within Pakistan and ease their travel difficulties.

And we certainly agree with what Alex had to say. Taking that spirit forward, here’s a list of Pakistani travel bloggers that you should definitely follow!

1. Three Day Weekend

Three Day Weekend is an amazing blog run by Urooj Hussain. She is an E-commerce strategist by profession, and a wanderer at heart. She started her blog in 2014 when she said she found her true purpose in life and since then she is traveling and balancing her profession with the passion to get the best of both worlds.

2. Patangeer

This breathtaking blog is run by Amtul Baweja and Fahad Tariq Khan. The two have been traveling across Pakistan and giving us some serious travel envy. The power couple shares a vision together that Patangeer is about the thirst to do something substantial, and quenching the thirst with a continuous effort to stop the recurring question thrown at every Pakistani vacationing abroad, “Is your country safe?” Their videography and photography are vibrant and in addition to showing us the beauty of Pakistan.

3. Hunza On Foot

Naveed Khan’s blogger bio boasts of his 5,100km walk across Pakistan and has endless breathtaking views of Pakistan’s snowy mountains, starry skies, huts, lakes and the people he meets along the way. In 2014, he quit my job as a High-Risk Advisor at the BBC World News and launched HunzaOnFoot with the belief that other travelers would share his desire to experience authentic adventures in a responsible and sustainable manner. He has a pet dog Athena, who travels with him, is just an extra treat we encounter every now and then!

4. Girl With Green Passport

Girl With Green Passport, Anam Hakeem’s blog sends tingles through our bodies for so many reasons! Her wanderlust takes us through some enchanting moments in Karachi, Naran, Kalash and even foreign countries. In 2012, her first trip to Dubai, she realized that if one small city so close to her home (Karachi)  could contain such another world and so much charm, what all would be there in the whole wide world. For the next 2 years she was unable to materialize her wish to travel beyond Dubai because of her parent’s cultural notion; what the heck is even single female solo travel? In 2014, she managed to get thru that barrier and that is where her adventure started.

5. Mystapaki

While there are so many blogs dedicated to exploring the endless and enchanting north of Pakistan, Bilal Hassan’s Mystapaki takes us on a journey through Sindh. Karachi seems to be one of his favorites. He reminds us that beauty can be found everywhere and takes us to places that we’ve seen but not explored enough.

6. Feroza Gulzar

Fantastic photography plus travel blogging is something we live for. And Feroza Gulzar has combined the two and blessed us. She captures Lahore, Quetta, Karachi, other parts of Sindh, Passu, and countless other places in an amazing way. Each post takes our breath away. She has been using letters and photography to tell small, fragmentary stories emerging from her travel experiences in different places. Her work explores the potential of letters and its parallels with photography, using text as an object alongside photographs and found material, in boxes.

7. Shariq Raza

Five Years ago in 2013, Shariq Raza packed his bags and choose not to be a common man instead he choose to be free and to travel the world. He traveled across the world and documented his trips because he believed that there are thousands of the untold stories that deserved to be told. He represented Pakistan everywhere he goes. His videos are the ultimate guide to travel across Pakistan.
