Maati Mela
Maati TV, in collaboration with Beaconhouse School System, brings you Maati Mela (Festival) on 12th January 2023.
Maati TV is Pakistan’s first web-based interactive video platform bringing advocacy and awareness on climate justice, equal citizenship, cultural diversity, and peacebuilding. While this platform promotes human rights and democracy, it also aims to encourage critical discourse within the Pakistani youth through various digital story-telling tools.
What can you expect at Maati Mela ?
Interactive Theatre
The Mela (Festival) will conduct theater exercises supervised by IRC director Muhammad Waseem. He has had 28 years of professional experience in art-based activism, equipping more than 200 groups with theatrical skills on several social and political affairs. The Maati tv team will also perform a theatrical play on “The Fundamental Human Rights” laid down in the constitution of Pakistan followed by an interactive session on equal citizenship.
Film screenings
We will deconstruct the concepts of equal citizenship and climate justice through visual storytelling. We will be screening digital stories on these themes followed by a critical discourse with the audience.
Short Film Competition
We are asking the students of Beacon School System to send us their short film entries as well. The selected films submitted by the students will be presented at Maati Mela (Festival), and the best film will be awarded an internship opportunity with Maati tv. The winners will get a chance to indulge in research, film production, hosting, etc., as part of their internship program. The students will be looking at the themes of climate change, equal citizenship, etc., and utilizing our social media platforms to engage directly with documentary short films, digital theatre, vlogs, etc.
Requirements
A 2-4 minute short film is to be submitted. Your work can be fictional or non-fictional in nature. The themes to be covered include Climate Justice and Equal Citizenship. The deadline to submit your entries is 6th January, 2023.
You can be as creative as you like. We are looking for films/digital stories that try to deconstruct what the themes mean to them.
