Allama Iqbal was born on the 8th of November, 1877.
He was a famous Indian politician, philosopher, and poet who has said to have inspired the Pakistan Movement in British India. For that, he is known as the ‘Spiritual Father of Pakistan’.
Allama Iqbal was a decedent of the Kashmiri Pandit family who migrated to Sialkot before his birth.
His father, Sheikh Noor Muhammad, was a tailor who was not well educated and his mother, Imam Bibi, was a humble and kind housemaker. His father enrolled him to a religious institute when he was about four years old. Iqbal learned the Quran and mastered the Arabic language. He completed his intermediate studies from the faculty of Arts, Murray College. For his bachelors, he studied English literature, Philosophy, and Arabic language. He got his Ph.D. degree from Ludwig Maximilian University in Germany in 1907.
Other than Iqbal’s vast knowledge, he was also quite fond of composing poems like Bang-i-Dara, Bal-i-Jibril, Zarb-i-Kalim, etc.
Before passing away on the 21st of April 1938, Iqbal used his poems to make Muslims understand their religion and he generally promoted the idea of separate Muslim majority state during his speech at the Allahabad Address in 1930. The government awarded him the title of National Poet of Pakistan.
