5 day residential workshop for women and religious minority journalists!

25th to 29th September 2023

We are looking for women and religious minority journalists from across Pakistan who are interested in enhancing their capacity for community journalism, digital storytelling, and learning safe ways of reporting on their communities.

During the 5-day residential workshop in our purpose-built facilities in Lahore, the 20 participants will be exposed to the approach of ‘Appreciative Inquiry” ( It is a strength-based positive approach that allows for a healthy discourse through positive examples of equal citizenship and builds on these examples to highlight areas for improvement. )

The workshop will equip the participants with essential skills in digital visual storytelling, citizen journalism, social media advocacy, and digital/media literacy. Additionally, participants will receive orientation on fundamental human rights, civic education, and gender-sensitive reporting At the end of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to pitch story ideas to Maati TV, and a selected few will be sponsored by Maati Tv, and published on our platform.

The workshop is entirely free and the travel, boarding, and lodging costs will be covered.

Eligibility Criteria :

• Age between 18 and 29 years old
• Working as a journalist/media person or a student of journalism (Content creators can also apply)
• Actively engaged on social media platforms, particularly TikTok
• Must be either a woman or member of a different faith ( religious minority) in Pakistan
• Firm commitment to avoid hate speech or intolerant attitudes towards any gender, religious, ethnic, or cultural group
• Strong belief in fundamental human rights
• Opposition to content that contradicts the Constitution of Pakistan
